The Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture Office in Jeddah organized an initiative titled “We Volunteer for Them,” which featured an entertainment trip to the “Little Asia” zone as part of the Jeddah Events Calendar, in collaboration with the National Events Center. The initiative targeted more than 30 children from the beneficiaries of Iradah Specialized Center and Maharat Al Tafawuq Daycare Center for People with Disabilities in Jeddah Governorate.
Commenting on the initiative, Eng. Ahmed bin Fawaz Al Harbi, Assistant Director General of the Ministry’s branch in Makkah Region for Administrative Affairs, stated that such trips organized by the Volunteerism and Social Responsibility Department are important because they aim to enhance awareness and a sense of belonging among children with disabilities and special abilities, broaden their understanding of the world around them, and encourage environmental awareness.
He added that the children explored various agricultural seedlings and ornamental plants, learned about methods of planting and preserving them, enjoyed the natural atmosphere, and participated in distributing gifts and seedlings to visitors. These activities contributed to helping them build friendships, strengthen their sense of belonging, and learn activities that support their role within the family and society as active members.
For her part, Reem Ahmed Bahamdeen, Deputy Director of the Ministry’s Office in Jeddah Governorate, explained that the trip reflects the office’s commitment to bringing joy and happiness to people with disabilities outside the center environment in order to help develop their skills. She noted that the entertainment zone, with its Asian-inspired atmosphere and live performances, attracted the children’s attention and provided them with an enjoyable experience through a wide variety of activities and events.
In a related context, Turki bin Ammar Al Sulami, Director of Iradah Specialized Daycare Center, and Dr. Samah bint Mohammed Al Hamoud Al Ghamdi, Director of Maharat Al Tafawuq Daycare Center for People with Disabilities in Jeddah, expressed their appreciation and gratitude to the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture branch in Makkah Region for involving the children in this wonderful celebration.
They emphasized that the trip reflects a sincere commitment from officials toward integrating this group into society and addressing the challenges they face, thereby enhancing their self-confidence and strengthening their sense of belonging within the community.
