The National Events Center (NEC) has concluded the activities of its national initiative to promote digital innovation in the events sector, held under the name EventTech initiative. The initiative was organized in collaboration with the Digital Entrepreneurship Center (CODE) and the Monsha’at, aiming to support the entrepreneurial ecosystem within the events industry and unlock innovative digital opportunities aligned with NEC’s strategic objectives. The initiative took place at the Digital Entrepreneurship Center headquarters in Riyadh.
The final day featured a knowledge-rich agenda, including an open dialogue session titled “Digital Innovation and Its Role in the Events Industry.” The discussion explored how digital innovation enhances event experiences through interactive technologies such as virtual reality and augmented reality, expands the global reach of events, and improves the efficiency of event management through advanced digital solutions.
The closing program also included the “Code Demo Day” session under the theme “Financing Solutions for Startups,” targeting investors, funds, and investment firms. The session highlighted the importance of innovation in entrepreneurial ventures, the effective utilization of emerging technologies, and the wide range of opportunities available to startups in Saudi Arabia, supported by an enabling environment that fosters entrepreneurship.
The initiative, which commenced on August 18, 2024, featured a series of workshops and brainstorming sessions aimed at identifying opportunities and challenges within the sector. It also introduced the “Event Tech Experts Series” program—one of its key outcomes—developed in partnership with CODE, which provided comprehensive support for delivering programs tailored to investors, entrepreneurs, and industry experts.
The initiative reflects NEC’s commitment to fostering a culture of digital innovation through a national collaborative effort, enhancing integration among government entities in line with Saudi Vision 2030. It also contributes to accelerating digital government transformation in the events sector efficiently and effectively, while enabling the creation of unique, future-forward experiences through strategic collaboration and the adoption of cutting-edge innovation practices.
