Unlimited Government Support Contributed to Its Completion Despite the COVID-19 Pandemic
The National Events Center announced the inauguration of the “Jeddah Superdome” project following the completion of construction works, officially preparing the venue to host a variety of events suited to this major national landmark.
Despite the challenging circumstances caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, which led to delays and disruptions in projects around the world, the substantial and unlimited support from the Kingdom’s leadership, along with the facilitation provided to both public and private sector projects, contributed to the successful completion of the world’s largest pillarless dome, located north of Jeddah. This achievement marks another milestone supporting the success of Saudi Vision 2030.
The Jeddah Superdome is expected to play a major role in revitalizing a wide range of events and occasions hosted in Jeddah, including local and international entertainment, sports, and cultural events, as well as exhibitions and various large-scale projects.
The dome has a diameter of 210 meters, covers an area of 39,753 square meters, and stands approximately 46 meters high. The structure is also designed to be adaptable according to the requirements of each event and project.
With these exceptional dimensions and capabilities, the Jeddah Superdome earned a Guinness World Record as the world’s largest pillarless dome, in addition to achieving another Guinness World Record as the world’s largest geodesic dome.
In line with the Kingdom’s ongoing development, the Jeddah Superdome is set to become one of Saudi Arabia’s most prominent landmarks, attracting global attention and generating major opportunities, partnerships, and investments at the local, regional, and international levels.
It is worth noting that the National Events Center was established by a Council of Ministers decision issued on March 10, 2020, to serve as the responsible developer and enabler of the events sector in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia across entertainment, sports, tourism, and cultural fields, ensuring the delivery of attractive activities, celebrations, and seasons for visitors from within and outside the Kingdom.
